2010 FC Youth Baseball Highlights {Sports}
Fisher County Youth Baseball Association kicked off the 2010 season on Saturday, March 24th, with opening ceremonies and a full day of baseball games at the little league field. Todd Van Poppel, former MLB pitcher, spoke to the teams and tossed the first pitch. There are three t-ball teams, two coach pitch teams, two midget teams, and two freshman teams this year. A number of improvements were made to the field as well, including a new scoreboard, concession stand and batting cages.
Over the past few years, the Fisher County Youth Baseball league has had a number of changes as individuals have stepped up to the plate (literally!) to create a good program here. The people in my work place, especially my boss, and my coworker Amy's husband, J.D., have put in a ton of time and effort to make it a fun learning experience for everyone involved. Scott asked me to take pictures of opening day, and I shot a couple of the games as well. Scott's brother worked with midget league pitchers, helping them improve their techniques, and signed tons of baseballs. You better believe I got one too! Hamburgers were enjoyed by everyone in the stands also - now whether they enjoyed watching my dad dance as he cooked the hamburgers...I cannot really say!
Orioles - getting pumped for the first game, or perhaps just excited to hear their name from the pressbox.

Zoe - this little girl was there to knock the ball HOME! Every time she got up to bat, her stance told the crowds she meant business!
Caden behind home plate. Just in case you wondered, this is THE spot that all six year olds want on the field!
To slide or not to slide?
The orioles played a great season, which I was thrilled to follow. My mostly sweet little brother Joshua played for their team this year, coached by J.D., Dee and Amy. The team ended their season with a huge party - pictures of that, and of my weekend at the rangers game to come.
